I have a hard time coming to terms with the fact that this came out in 1982. You hear "hardcore with reggae" and think that it's an end product of the genre, not part of the proprietors of it.

Wow what an amazing album. I’m new to punk music and also desperately need a better understanding of ska and this is just perfect.

I dont necessarily agree. I think the reggae is actually what clearly defines this album as the greatest experience in hardcore punk. It gives it an identity and the record feels more defined because of it and id argue that ultimately makes it more cohesive rather than it being a compilation of good hardcore punk songs. As for the flow, I dont think its really affected. Punk and reggae sound great when fused or together unless either are executed poorly, thats why some consensus top punk albums like london calling have dub and reggae elements.

Pretty dank how you go from like chill as fuq "i luv i luv i luv a jahhhh" to the most aggressive fucking blisteringly fast hardcore you've ever experienced.

Somebody knocked my eyeballs out in a bar and, when the Brain Brothers came on the jukebox, everyone claimed that my peepers started dancing right before the rats got to them.

One of the best Punk records of all time. These guys had chops, they were good songwriters and H.R. was at this point one of the best frontmen in the world. "I" is probably my favorite Bad Brains song.

This, Damaged and Minor Threat are the best punk releases of all time in my opinion.
