"Inside the Fire" is a single by American rock band Disturbed from their fourth studio album Indestructible, which was released on June 3, 2008. The track started airing on the radio on March 24, 2008 and was released through digital download on the iTunes Store and Amazon.com on March 25. The song, along with the tracks "Indestructible" and "Perfect Insanity," are available as downloadable tracks for the video game Rock Band since June 3, 2008.

According to guitarist Dan Donegan, "It's about a girl he was in a relationship with. She committed suicide, and he just has the voice of the devil over his shoulder trying to provoke him to take his own life to join her again, because the only chance for him to be with her again is if he takes his life. We're not condoning suicide off of this, it's just more of the temptation to join a girlfriend that was very confused and messed up and wanted out."

When asked by a fan during the DeepRockDrive Concert, if Devin was really his girlfriend, Draiman replied: "That wasn't actually her real name, in "Inside the Fire", a lot of people have asked what that's about. It is actually, unfortunately about a true incident of suicide that happened when I was a young kid, about 14, 15 years old. I had a girl who was a heroin addict and, on the wrong path and got obsessive compulsive, became way too attached and wanted to tell my parents about our relationship that I wasn't allowed to have, I was going to a religious boarding school at the time, and I wasn't even allowed to talk to a girl, let alone date a girl. Couldn't see movies, couldn't read newspapers, couldn't, had to bless before I ate, after I ate, pray three times a day, all that kind of stuff. But, unfortunately, she took her own life, and it's been something that has haunted me for a very, very long time."

A video was made with director Nathan Cox. The video for "Inside the Fire" was described as "bloody and intense" according to frontman David Draiman. The video premiered on May 2, 2008 on Disturbed's official site.

Three versions of the video have been released. The unedited version which follows the meaning of the song, and an edited version of the video that omits the storyline cuts. A third version labeled "ultra clean" has been sent on May 29, 2008 to TV stations without any blood in it.

Due to the message of the video and the intensity of it, a warning message appears before the video due to its content. Also a suicide hotline number appears at the beginning (foretold by Draiman himself) and the end of the video.

The video begins with a girl hanging herself in her apartment. Draiman arrives at the apartment, to find her dead. He cuts her down and places her body on a couch, taking in what's happened. He then bathes her in a bathtub. He goes back out to the room in which she hanged herself, and looks out of the door, making sure no one is there. Mentally stricken, he takes a gun placed on the wall and aims the barrel into his own mouth and starts screaming. He is then seen in a straitjacket, showing that he could not bring himself to commit suicide, but was found trying.

The song debuted at number 5 on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and number 23 on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks, respectively. It also debuted at number 73 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 67 on the Billboard Pop 100. The song is Disturbed's first top ten hit on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks since "Prayer." It is also their second song to hit number 1 and most successful single on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks, the other being "Land of Confusion."
