Definitely not a ripoff, but there is no doubt that they wouldn't sound like they do if Mr. Bungle and Faith No More didn't exist. A strong influence i would say (admittedly sometimes too strong). You could say the same about Tub Ring. Though TB did transcend their influences a bit more than DFD.

I feel the opposite, I think DFD moved outside of their shadow better than TR did, at least before the reboot. I was never able to get excited about TR.

If you've ever perused their message boards, I'm sure you'd see why. Those guys are top tier gatekeepers.

Listening to Ad Nauseam & it's definitely not bad... I hear the horns in there at the end but DFD used to have a HEAVY, drop-tuned crunchy guitar sound. This is almost hard to differentiate from Polkadot Cadaver, imo

Yeah PDP was the album I liked, a lot... I actually went on tour with those guys at the end of 2010 (selling merch or whatever) but they were debuting new songs like.... (thinks whatever the "Hit Me Baby One More Time") what was it "Bloodsucker" on the "Sex Offender" album... that stuff wasn't really doing it for me. From what I heard "Last Call in Jonestown" was a lot better than the 2nd album but I'll always have mixed feelings on these dudes...they took me on my 1st tour when I was 20-yrs-old but like "mentoring" & "catering" to a younger tour-mate wasn't anybody's strength is what I'd say

The new album works great as one piece of work. Though not easy to digest. It nicely grows towards the end and Baby Bones and Starving Artist are probably my faves. It was easier to pick favorite songs from Sweet Nothings but that album had many songs I found boring.

I don't know why you guys were expecting another album like Adultery. As you can see through the years, Todd's new bands are sounding very similar to each other, DFD wouldn't be different. Also, Adultery is a masterpiece, why would they try to sound similar if they can't be better than that?

It's amazing how different it feels from Adultery. I think Adultery is the monument to be compared to, and while I don't think anything is going to top that album, it's just too hard to compare them. They're two different beasts. It's glad to see the boys back in top form after 8 years!

Positively surprised with how good the new album turned out to be, well worth the IndieGogo pledge. "Tastes so sweet", "Approach and recede", "Struck by lightning" and the title track are my favorites so far; the rest of the package is strong as well, save for "War Party" which sticks out like a sore thumb. It obviously lacks the coherence and flow of "Adultery" (I'm almost tempted to re-order some of the songs in a playlist or smth), yet this is two steps ahead of any Razor to Wrist release as of late.
