In Travis Scott’s August 2019 documentary Look Mom I Can Fly–which focused mainly on his life–the Cactus Jack Records leader surprisingly previewed new music, a snippet of “After Party.”
In September 2019, Cactus Jack affiliate Chedda Da Connect revealed the song’s title in an Instagram comment, where he rejected the fan-made name of “Lamborghini.” On September 2, Don Toliver teased his involvement of the track via Twitter, where he reposted two lines of Travis' verse.
On November 9, 2019, during Travis Scott’s second annual ASTROWORLD festival, Don Toliver previewed a large portion of the track. In this set, the song cut off before Travis' part was played, which lead people to believe Travis Scott was cut from the song; this ended up being true.
