Great new track (A Symphony of Rage). Hope the next album continues this style of punishing EBM.

I highly enjoyed the new album. Even the instrumentals. It also felt they finally dared to take some experiments outside the typical Hocico AC/DC formula. Some of the slow brooding stuff is great and some of the club bangers best they have done in years. Maybe the name HyperViolent doesn't describe the album perfectly but I got what I wanted from this album.

New album is ok, dare I say good. Could have even been great if they didn't put all previous four singles, didn't have six instrumentals and a cover that has been done to death already, on it. The real juicy meat is definitely the new songs like Acts of Aggression, What Are Nightmares Made of?, Hacked Society (mega banger), Crown of Knives and Black Mirror. The drum'n'bass stuff like Backstabbers I could do without because it isn't my cup of tea. All in all I expected a much more aggressive assault on the senses with an album named HyperViolent. With 18 songs a lot of it is quite tame. But it's ok.

I have the *almost exact* same thoughts, aside from thinking Crown of Knives is a fun offshot experiment that should be a bonus track and not a mainline song. Overall, the album starts of extremely strong up until Lost World after which it gets into a downward spiral of nonsense, some of the stuff going on near the end just sounds like studio doodles and not proper album material, including six instrumentals which bar one (The Fall which is almost as good of a closer as the amazing Quiet Zone was) just go absolute nowhere. But what's good is really good. I think I liked the last album marginaly better because the instrumentals seemed more coherent and it just ended with 2 very strong tracks (some of their best ever) unlike Hyperviolent which just drags on and on and I'm not sure what I'm listening to anymore.

By the way, I did a personal playlist with this album trimmed to a digestible format + moved some tracks around, I think it's just more coherent this way, posting in case someone's too lazy to do it themselves ;P https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5khOcQ6Xvq8uykP1CjKjVO?si=01042ad2b24446d8

Their new single Broken Empires is their best new electro dark sound from 2020 new decade, adios to the experiment with drum & bass + electro which did not had the success they expected. I'm glad to see that one of the top 5 aggrotech bands of all time is back into the game in this new era of RNA updated organisms/Fascism and Extreme Poverty all over the world, society is changing and nothing will be same as in past decades.

that's very subjective, since I like dozens of bands but from historic perspective and bands which are still active: Leæther Strip, :Wumpscut:, Skinny Puppy, Suicide Commando

I think it may be the track «Untitled» on Hocico – Crónicas Letales IV (2010) but I'm not sure. Can't find the album to confirm.

The drum and bass Damaged and Cross The Line, sound isn't really that new for Hocico. Seemed it started with I Abomination I guess? I want to find more of this sound, its really good

I definetly love the direction - I prefer them when Hocico is more electronic, industrial and futuristic. In that regard, Artificial Extinction is one hell of a dystopia. I love the experimentation as well, as the ambient tracks are the stars of the album for me. Unfortunetly, while the sound and direction are great, songwriting doesn't seem to be up to par. Most of the "normal" tracks lack hooks, melodies or memorable moments, sliding into a fun but bland wall of agression. A bit more of "Memorias Atras"-style melodic synths would skyrocket this album into a 10/10 territory for sure. However, the final two tracks more than deliver. Palabras de Sangre is wonderfuly bleak and weird while being catchy in a very odd way (gives me "Spirals of Time" flashbacks), while Quiet Zone is one of the best things I ever heard from Hocico - Dark, moody, melodic. A good but deeply flawed album with two final songs that more than make up for the rest.

Totally agree, these two are best of this album. And agree that non-voice tracks are really inreresting, listening them feels a lot of cyberpunk atmosphere, at least for me.

And so i tried a brief listen of "Artificial Extinction". Well, you know, I am always glad to see the band is trying something new. Glad... as long as they don't do this "new" more than what we love them for. And regarding "Artificial Extinction", as for me, the experiments have gone too far. I would have gladly accept 3-4 experimental tracks, but more than half of the album... I can't say the album is bad, it just doesn't feel like Hocico, you know, almost at all. Surely, I will listen to it more to taste it deeper but... I'm afraid that there is no real delight for it.

Yes, this is one of the tracks, that sounds exactly like Hocico. My favourite from the album by the way.

If you haven't heard Memorias Atras and Odio Bajo El Alma, I can agree w/ you on songs being quite samey - but this appeals for many harsh ebm bands, even Suicide Commando including. If you heard Memorias Atras, I think you should go to the nearest hospital and hope you'll heal your hearing problems :< (and seriously saying: Memorias Atras is quite various album and I can't imagine thinking about this different way. You can call this sell-out, popish, simple, but not repetitive)

Uhm. While I might agree a little for some of their releases, I think you are mistaken. Most people here recommend Memorias Atrás to you but I would say listen to other releases. I personally like this album the least of all their stuff. Generally too slow for me. But I guess we have whole different tastes anyway since Alien Vampires are one of the best bands for me. Maybe try bands like X-Fusion, C-Lekktor, Amduscia or Agonoize.

I can't take serious a guy who talks shit about Hocico and meanwhile listens to x-rx (top 6) or Extize (top 2). If you find "one, two, three, dance with me" enough artistic, then Hocico is definately not for you :).

Somebody knows every movie fragment from Hocico songs? I have found Tiempos de Furia is from Batman Begins (2005) and Ecos from Strange Days (1995)

Recently released 3CD Compilation "The Spell of the Spider" has a song of the 3rd EP called "All Beauty is Lost" - everyone who prefers early Hocico like "Odio Bajo El Alma" go and try it, it is really similar to good old Hocico style of before 2000s. As for me - I could hardly imagine a better gift with a new release!

It's not a return. Racso told me this song was written a long time ago. He just waited for a right time to release it :).
