Diane Cluck is also excellent! Actually, I met her a couple months ago and didn't really know her music at all (she is incredibly warm and easy to talk to) and I've been meaning to properly listen to all her albums, so this is a good reminder

Wait, she was a nanny for TOM WAITS? Man, the more I learn about her the more I'm intrigued. Memories Are Now is so enjoyable.

If you have a chance to see her live, DO IT. It was such a good show, one of the best I've been to. Unrelated, though she played this at the show and it was one of the coolest sounding: listening to When I'm Asleep, I think this would've made a fine 5 minute album conclusion track but alas it ends so short..!

I think the material on the new album is incredibly, incredibly strong. It's just the recording is so highly processed-sounding it slightly mars the impact.

Now that I've been through the album a few times, I must say, it's pretty sweet. Different style from Hunting My Dress and it's done really well. As always, Jesca's voice is divine. Though it's harder for me to pinpoint where she plays the guitar on some of the busier tracks and I like the intimacy of songs like Whispering Light and even The House That Jack Built. Some of the tracks in the middle don't hold my attention too much, but the album finishes strong with the last two tracks. Overall, I'm enjoying this album and I think it's a great follow-up.
