Queensbridge rap duo Mobb Deep bring tales about their “trife life” chronicling the trials and tribulations of life in the hood with vivid storytelling and imaginative hood scenarios like paranoia of being set-up, robbing then killing an out-of-towner, and selling drugs to make a living.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of their classic sophomore album, "The Infamous", in a 2015 interview with Dazed and Digital, half member of the group, Havoc had this to say:

DD: How do you stay tied into the "Trife Life" as you put on the record, are you still tied into the kind of stuff that you are writing about in 1995?

We’re going to be forever connected to it. We’re always will be from the streets, we’re in the streets; our studio’s in the hood. You have business, the music business, you have the real life and you have got to balance the two.

The track samples R&B Crooner, Norman Connors notably released song, “You Are My Starship”.
