I love how live the entire audience shouts "KNOCK YOU OUT" in unison. Perfect song.

I love all of Pavement's stuff, and this isn't even my favorite song by them, but this is their only song that makes me cry. especially considering how much more playful most of their songs are. This one has such an intense severity & mysticism to it, it's really unlike anything else in their catalog.

I never got before that this was a protest song about the American medical system, but it makes so much sense now. see the quote YorkNew posted quite a ways down the page, or just see here: https://abrahamriesman.com/post/406114262/a-thing-stephen-malkmus-wrote I love this song even more now, and I didn’t think that was possible. I don’t listen to this band or album nearly often enough nowadays, given how massively both influenced my taste when I was younger. I can’t decide whether this or Father to a Sister is the best song on WZ… or Grave Architecture, or Fight This Generation… too many brilliant songs on this album. There’s a strong case to be made for this one, though. CR,CR version is brilliant, too.

Hate to break the news :) but you are "that guy" I know exactly what you’re trying to say since the term post-rock was first used almost 50 years ago but post-rock as a genre is around for almost 30 years now. What I was trying to point out was the intro and the outro. This song is from 1994 and it just reminds me of Explosions in the Sky. So free from the boring terminology I was just expressing how this song felt. That’s all.

The original is perfection; the alternate take on CRCR's second disc is perfection, just a different kind of perfection. [2]
