Даже удивительно, как сольное музло Джона Оливы, способно засрать любой интерес к Savatage.А они ведь чёрт побери хороши.

Really wish I knew about this band sooner, but am loving getting to find another master of the metal genre.

At least Trans Siberian Orchestra has seen decent recognition, it really is a crime that Oliva brothers got the recognition they deserved. They had a decent following back in the day, but they belong in the ranks of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, etc.

One of my first true Heavy Metal loves after Iron Maiden. Savatage has aged like fine wine and will continue to age well. A true diamond in Heavy Metal.

Twenty seven years ago on this day we lost a truly talented and gifted musician. R.I.P. Criss Oliva.

"Dead Winter Dead" is one of the most underrated albums ever. Absolutely beautiful.

Sirens and Power of the Night are great albums. I wanna get Hall of the Mountain King next. I got one track off it, but I wanna get the rest.

I really hope some pro footage of the Savatage + TSO concert is released. That show at Wacken with both main stages being played at the same time is one of the greatest experiences of my life.

What you don't realize is that the first 3 albums and the EP had been created without Paul, and they are absolutely flawless. Paul was a very good influence, no doubt about that. But I think that it was the melange of a few factors more: Criss (!!!) and a perfect bunch of musicians 'round the brothers. And I agree about JO'sP, it's lacking the pure magic of the earlier days. Same goes for CIIC, although I prefer them.

I think you're right about that combination of factors: First, we never saw an album without neither Paul and Criss, so Paul wasn't the only genius behind Savatage. Second, the band had Al Pitrelli and Chris Caffery, both incredible guitar players. So I wouldn't be so sure an album released by these guys would sound just like JOP albums.

Yeah, Caffery learned from the best (Criss), took up a bit of his sound and technique (which clearly shows on the Doctor Butcher masterpiece). I wish Jon would reunite with the old boys Wacholz (not a big fan of the triggered drums of Jeff Plate) and Middleton, maybe with Caffery and Pitrelli again.

Such a great band I have never heard of it! Shame for me and the humanity. Really great songs and superb guitar works. Rest in peace Criss Oliva. You are the man \m/

R.I.P. Paul O'Neill. Thank you for being one of the biggest, most generous souls in metal music. You left behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

"When the Crowds Are Gone, Playing a Final song, Now that the lights are gone, Turn them on again, One more time for PAUL !! ". O'Neill, half of the creating power and the mastermind behind Savatage. Thanks for everything bro. You'll be missed.
