Biography
The Chinese Calendar is a Dominican musical collaboration formed in November of 2006 by musicians belonging to other projects such as Main Artery, Lost in Silence, Aurora (before they disbanded) and Ryu. This fusion of musicians and friends seeks to adapt their heavy roots in genres such as metal, hardcore, emo, etc. into something a bit more different and refreshing. The aforementioned influences embellish a rhythm section more oriented towards rock and roll with dance and ambient. The band consists of Jochy Salvidar on vocals, Daniel Gonzalez on guitar and backup vocals, Henry Montenegro on guitar, Fernando Fuentes on bass and Ruben Benscome on drums. In their first year they have gained a big following in local rock venues.
In April 2007 they won first place in the second "Messenger Mag" festival. Since then they have been very active participating in concerts such as Raise the Noise 2, Washington Tower, Cinema Cafe, and Santiago (Rock in Fusion).
