These guys knocked me out in 2019 with the first 10 seconds of "Nightfall." The rest of the album was a 10-track victory lap over my stunned body. It wasn't a perfect album and today there are a few tracks that I skip. However, "Strength" is, dare I say it, STRONGER. Not a single wasted moment on this awesome album. It doesn't quite have a "Give Me to the Night" but many tracks come pretty damn close.

I don't get the hype around this band. I like 'em and all, they're cool, but they're nowhere near as fantastic as people make 'em out to be. It's pretty standard trad heavy metal with gothic overtones to my ears. Solid but nothing outstanding or original. Their usage of "UH!" and the likes in every other song gets old really fast as well.

I think it's because the band pulls that traditional HM and Gothic Rock mix off so well. I agree their music is rather simple, but it's also really effective, at least to me. And then the subtle things like the "UH!" you mentioned or the wolf howl, the eagle cry etc. I just love everything about the band.

There's nothing wrong with simplicity, though. For me it's just hard to see the greatness everybody's talking about. I hear some good shit here, don't get me wrong. I got "Mana" on vinyl when they still were Idle Hands and it's cool, but to me that's just another album in my record collection, you know? Not quite a holy grail whatever. Will give the new album a fair chance whenever I get in the mood. I hear it's angrier.

I grew up on Celtic Frost and Sisters of Mercy so the UHs and the rest of the music is like, well music to my ears. :)

I think the drums sound like they were recorded live by their drummer, but the samples used in post-production give everything a very "plastic" feel imo.

That's a bad thing actually because the name does not fit. They could have went with the other part of the "Idle Hands" saying and named themselves "Devil's Plaything" or taken some of their own lyrics/song titles that would fit ("Devil's Deed", "Cosmic Overdrive", "Double Negative") there could be a lot of names much better than "Unto Others".

I think it suits them pretty well. The "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" bible quote goes along with the gothic vibes and such.
