Anneke's vocals are so emotive, atmospheric, and beautiful while the rest of the band's style... isn't (it's a more technical kind of prog). I don't particularly love the juxtaposition but can see how it'd be alright live.

Такая же муть, как и Gentle Storm. Скорей бы она завязывала с митолом - он у неё получался только в Гэзеринг.

Anneke is my favorite singer of all time, but I just cannot seem to get into Vuur. I think the issue is the concept and lyrics behind the album in combination with the over-production. Her heavy music in The Gathering, and all her non-metal side-projects, had meaning in the songs that we could all relate to - loss, depression, happiness, relationships, memories etc... But how the heck am I supposed to relate the music of VUUR? Travelling? Cities? Really? That does not make my heart move or feel any sort of emotion. And Vuur is produced to the point that it sounds almost too heavy. I really miss Anneke's folk music. Her solo rock/pop music. And I definitely miss her atmospheric rock.

This album is not about travelling. Each song has a story about something memorable from the cities that Anneke has visited. I suggest you to watch the track-by-track videos that Vuur is posting on Facebook. The concept is indead very different from the usual. PS: I think her solo work isn't over.

Well... She can't satisfy everybody. The same way there are people who doesn't like her solo career or The Gathering, there are some who are not satisfied with Vuur. This is natural with every band.

I disliked the album but went to see them, there's something in her voice that just clicks on me. She could sing the phonebook and would still be good. But agree on you overall, the concept and the sound are very different from her previous works which I liked a lot, this isn't very emotive but they sound good on stage.

I really wanted Vuur to be great. I like Anneke's vocals on heavy stuff, but I've seen em live twice now and listened through the album a couple of times, but I can't get it into it. Damn shame, there's quite some talent on there. I still hope it's successful, Anneke deserves it.

Why does Anneke insist on singing metal ? Why Anneke ? I really enjoy her soft, trippy, acoustic songs instead of this progressive record.

she's great singing metal. I am glad she returned doing so :) for example her metal singing technique on song "The Fire - San Francisco" is outstanding.

I am one of the biggest fan of The Gathering, I know that she is amazing in metal music but I guess she is the best when she does some trippy sound because her voice is so mesmerising and heavenly on that kind of music. I want to hear another Souvenirs not something like prog metal.

Freedom - Rio is a masterpiece! Thank you so much for this awesome song! As a Brazilian, I'm happy that "In This Moment We Are Free" is inside of Freedom's lyrics <3

Days Go By - London is a such a powerful song. I couldn't be happier with the result. VUUR with only one song released yet is already one of my favorite bands. The message in the song about hope is everything I need at my currently moment in life. Thank you so much, Anneke and guys for this amazing work!
