“Smile” is the fourth track on Wolf Alice’s third album "Blue Weekend". It reflects on the assumptions that other people make about someone. However, the narrator doesn’t lose themselves and knows very well who they truly are.
This song diverges from the first three tracks on the album as it goes for a more aggressive punk sound, instead of a dreamy soft-rock production.
"It’s about people that make assumptions about you. This is one of the songs we wrote thinking that we would play it live. I miss that feeling of singing on stage. It’s like screaming into a pillow or something — you can get away with being more nasty. There’s a whole other part of me missing."
