Yaşru (meaning 'Mystery' in Ancient Turkish) is a Folk Doom Metal band formed in 2009 in Istanbul, Turkey. The project was originally formed as a one-man project in 2007 by Berk Öner (ex-Seraphim) under the name Sidre, which he changed to Yaşru two years later. Berk released the first album under the the new project name titled 'Öd Tengri Yasar' as a digital release in 2012, which was positively received by its audience. The success led Berk to add other members to his project in order to perform live concerts, which elevated Yaşru to become a fully-fledged band. The concept and lyrical themes of Yaşru deals with ancient turkic sagas and history. The band incorporates traditional folk instruments into their music, which adds to the atmosphere and concept of ancient turkic history.
