I feel that I've rarely been so wrong about something like I've been regarding my judgement about "oscillate"... to (somehow) justify myself, I can say that, after my judgement, I still gave the album a loooot of listens in very different situations because I have still felt the potential of this album and I didn't want to give up on the band. they contributed to my post-rock socialisation, after all. and then, suddenly, it klicked..... by now, I very very very much appreciate "oscillate". I love it. the further the album progresses, the better are its songs, and the more I listen to the album as a whole, the more it unfolds its potential to send me on an imaginary, emotionalising trip into the wide open and into myself. Sorry, pg.lost, I haven't done justice to your art.

"oscillate" only makes me yawn...again...I had hopes they could have learnt from the stylistic deadlock "versus" was. but "oscillate" is as boring as "versus". I don't understand it because everything from pg.lost since their EP "Yes I Am" from 2007 until "key" is pure gold to me.. they should know how to do it right.

I really don't understand your frustration. It's in the same vein as their 3 previous albums. Every album has some synths, but also has lots of guitars as well, just like Oscillate. They're really more same than different! My only guess is you're mistaking some octave/filter/chorus sounds (created by guitars through pedals), for synths, especially in the "choruses" of the songs (that combo can really sound like keyboards at times). Just an fyi, the vast majority of the sounds in each of their last 3-4 albums are from guitars, bass and effect pedals, not keyboards! For someone who really enjoyed their last 2-3 albums I don't see a reason disliking this one. Nevertheless, you are absolutely free to dislike it as much as you want, I'm not trying to change your opinion, it's just seems strange, that's all. Cheers ;)

does any of the new stuff stack up to Yes I Am or It's Not Me, It's You? imo it's been steady decline since In Never Out :/

"in never out" and "key" contain some excellent songs ("sheaves" still touches me the most from all their works, actually.. ), but these albums lack the raw emotions, escalations and the overall atmosphere of "it's not me, it's you!". however, these albums are far away from bad, pg.lost just play it too safe sometimes. but their latest album "versus" is just plain boring, imo.
