Sounds like a busy day. I spent the day with my girlfriend. We drank and smoked up and watched some movies. I listened to J Cole's first album. I liked it at the time, but it didn't have the staying power for me to want to listen to it again. Might have to go back and try it out once more though. I hadn't thought about it again until now

I love that Deafheaven album. It was my favorite release of last year. Hope your 4th was good, bro

Oh yeah! I totally agree with you. You really find what you love about an artist(s) more when you question why you like them, and you begin to appreciate them a lot. This, for me, also helps me see what types of music I really love most, and what I look for in my music. A whole lot of discovery starts to happen. Haha! It's interesting how it all works. And go ahead and give "Dragging a Dead Dear Up a Hill" a listen, though I think that it is not as much an ambient album as "Alien Observer" from what I remember of that album, so there are differences, but that's definitely not bad. If you liked "Alien Observer", I would most certainly recommend it! And I will be sure to listen to your album soon!

Congratulations on the release! I'll be sure to give it a listen. I already have it downloading right now. I have listened to "Alien Observer" before. I liked it too! I have been recently getting into "Dragging a Dead Dear Up a Hill", but I think I may want to give "Alien Observer" some listens now, too. Haha! I am happy to hear that you have new favorite artists which you were not particularly fond of before. It is interesting how music works like that. You sometimes aren't sure about a piece of music at first, but with a few listens, you have a whole new perspective on it.

That's great to hear! I hope your music does well! As for me, I have been recently listening to Grouper and her album "Dragging a Dead Dear Up a Hill". I really like it. Very soft, quiet, and beautiful. Great Stuff! I have also been listening to a bit of Whirr too, and have been enjoying their album "Pipe Dreams". I have also been really into Slowdive's "Souvlaki" and Shelling's self titled album. It has been a great week for music for me, and I hope it has been as well for you!

There are quite some compilation albums on the market, usually found with a title like 'The best soft Romantic piano pieces', or something. You can usually buy compilations like that for very cheap, and offer quite a range of composers/genres, so they can be good for exploring classical stuff. In the meantime I'll upload some more pieces like that

If there is any piece you like in particular or if you're looking for something different, let me know and I'll try and find something. If you're trying to get into classical, nothing beats seeing a concert live. A lot of concert halls have cheap(er) tickets for young people, so that might be interesting for you

So far no albums or EPs, if I have enough rock material some day, I might do an EP or something. Well, Raindrops & Puddles is an arrangement of this track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB-NlK6eSEg So it isn't really classical, IMO. If you have dropbox, I could upload some pieces for you, if you'd like

Aw sweet man! I'm looking forward to recording some of my own music but I still have no band .-. and no, I've just added it, like, a month ago, I think I had a spider before that picture. Also, nope, it sucks, but I have nothing cool to tell you about, huh.

It really has been ages, hasn't it? I can't remember if that parade of Squidwards was always there and if I complimented you on them, but if not--they're truly something to marvel

I realized I only wrote about post-metal rather than the "true" sludge (man, genres sometimes can be so meaningless). Let me know if you're cool with the post-sound. Another variation I enjoy is stoner/sludge or stoner/doom, stuff like Electric Wizard, Bongzilla, Sleep.

I agree for a lot of their stuff, that's why I really dig how they make albums. Tons of songs, really short tracks, so that if you don't like what you're hearing it's over soon enough and there's at least a small handful of tracks you'll have stuck in your head for a while and you'll go back to. For me the only album where I immediately liked everything was Alien Lanes, which was one of the first CDs my dad gave to me when I got my first CD player. When they went more into their stadium rock sound that style wasn't the same, but there's still so much of their stuff there for you to listen to that you're bound to find some stuff you like, and most of the stuff you don't immediately get into sort of grows on you over time. At least it did for me. Guided By Voices is one of those bands you can recommend to anybody and they'll probably find something to like about 'em.

I'll be glad to! I see some Neurosis and Isis in your library. I love 'em. Isis' Oceanic and Panopticon were my introduction to the genre (?!), but I believe Neurosis to be the true founders and innovators. I'd start with them, but maybe you want more variety. So, other stuff you might enjoy: Cult of Luna's Salvation and Somewhere Along the Highway; Baroness (their discography is more limited so I don't feel like I need to point an album or two); maybe something from Pelican and Russian Circles as well, these play instrumental post/sludge/whatever. Jesu is a very peculiar band led by Justin Broadrick, check out their albums Jesu and Conqueror.

I loved it! I've heard some of their older stuff, but I think their latest was way better.
