Brazilian electro-pop kings, The Twelves, make rare European visit to Kunk

For one night, Budapest's lucky number will be a dirty dozen, as Kunk will present Brazil's indie-electro crossover pair, The Twelves, on Saturday, December 12 at Mappa Club (ex-Trafo). Often called Rio de Janeiro's answer to Daft Punk, The Twelves are one of the best production duos to have emerged out of the blogs in recent years. Their breakthrough came in summer 2007 when they remixed M.I.A.'s "Boyz", which appeared in high profile dj sets around the world, including Kissy Sell Out, who played it on BBC's "In New Djs We Trust" series.

Since that time, they've been commissioned to remix big name tracks such as The Virgins "Rich Girl", La Roux’s "In For The Kill", A-Ha’s "Take On Me", Groove Armada's "Drop the Tough" and Metric’s "Help I'm Alive" -- all topping the Hypem music charts -- and generating an invite to do a mini-mix for the BBC Radio 1 show, Annie Mac’s Mash-up. Spin Magazine made them one of their nine upcoming acts to watch at this year's SXSW festival in the US, and they recently made their debut at Paris' legendary, Social Club.

Their live show is a one-of-a-kind blend of live keyboards, drum machines, mash-ups and remixing on the fly. A key element for the duo is trying to improvise as much as possible -- it’s the hottest ticket of 2009.

Supporting sets by Kunk hosts Brandon and Cigi with their mash of hot electro and indie, and Ektiv's electro-soaring wunderkid We Plants are Happy Plants.
