With over 18 months of killer gigs at Cargo, we are excited to announce a move to our new home The Big Chill House in Kings Cross! The venue has some great line ups coming up and we are really pleased to be a part of it. We have been invited down to choose some of the best artists from our ‘Hype’ charts and for our inaugural event we have an eclectic mix of synth pop, psychedelic electronica and a bit of disco for good measure! Check out what we have in store:
EMPEROR MACHINE: Andrew Meecham of Chicken Lips fame created this project in 2004. Signed to the legendary DC Recordings, The Emperor Machine was born out of Meecham’s desire to create a modern sound using vintage equipment and seventies production techniques. Resident Advisor say “The music of The Emperor Machine is inspired by sci-fi films, prog rock, electronic rock, disco, Delia Derbyshire and a heavy Can addiction” We can’t wait!
OU EST LE SWIMMING POOL – SINGLE LAUNCH PARTY: Aren’t we the lucky ones! It’s been a great year for the quartet since their forming, they’ve shared stages with the likes of Mr. Hudson, Cypress Hill and Reverend And The Makers as well as packing out their own gigs with their own brand of infectious pop. They have built up a reputation for being one of the most exciting live bands of the moment; their passionate live shows bursting with energy and chemistry as they jump about the stage.
LATE OF THE PIER DJ SET! They don’t really need an introduction, produced by Erol Alkan the band create beautifully catchy off-kilter electro pop. This year maybe a quiet year for them after their release of Blueberry so if you want to catch a glimpse of them we recommend you come down to this show! They will be first on so get down there early to see their special set of DIY electronica and weird grooves.
OFF MODERN COLLECTIVE: They put on the best parties on the South side of the river, and they will come north to show you how it’s done. Legendary warehouse parties as well as monthly events, art exhibitions + a magazine these guys have seen everyone from Crystal Fighters, Your Twenties & Theophilius London play their shows.
So, there you have it! Last.fm Presents kicking it in 2010!
