Description

“Watching these crack musicians rev up their complex, precision polyrhythms and fire up five-part horn harmonies is as thrilling as riding a horse that suddenly breaks into a gallop.” (L.A. Times)

The thrilling 13-piece salsa band, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, is coming to the Centre for the Arts Stage after winning the 2011 GRAMMY for Best Tropical Latin Album with their fourth release, Viva La Tradicíon. Performing a unique repertoire of salsa music drawing its inspiration from roots in the 20th century, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra revives salsa rhythms and melodies using an incredible percussion section, unbelievable horns and powerful singers. Using both original compositions and arrangements of salsa classics, band leader Oscar Hernández will bring a suite of salsa tunes that celebrate the season and have you shaking your hips and clapping your hands.
