FutureEverything are delighted to announce this year’s headline act for the 2012 festival, Amon Tobin’s ISAM (Live) Audio/Visual Show.

Following a headline date at Coachella, Ninja Tune’s Amon Tobin will host the Northern debut of ISAM (Live) Audio/Visual Show at FutureEverything in Manchester. The legendary producer’s latest album will be performed at Manchester Academy on Saturday 19 May as part of an incredible 3-D event at 2012’s festival.

Amon Tobin’s spellbinding show was one of the most talked about performances of 2011. Guests at his Camden Roundhouse gig included Brian Eno, Muse, The Prodigy and even Simon Cowell – who all turned up to witness this futuristic display of audio visual entertainment.

For the first time in Amon Tobin’s career, he will perform a show based around the concept of his ISAM album and deliver a truly unique visual experience. Tobin has officially stepped away from previous DJ-centric performances, and brings a large-scale live audio/visual experience of his latest album to select cities around the world.

A truly visual onslaught – abstract, narrative, exhilarating and bombastic – the show uses using projection mapping, generative/audio reactive real time and pre-rendered elements. The visual elements have been synched to ISAM to make a large scale next-level HD experience.

ISAM (Live) features a cubist multi-dimensional/ shape shifting art installation that surrounds Tobin in a sculptural box; the visuals envelop him and the audience in stunning 3-D projections. Amon conceptualized the show as a projection mapped “visual score” to the music from ISAM. He performs the music as a navigator of a large craft through a surreal visual narrative.

The spectacular mapped content follows the musical and visual framework carefully storyboarded between Amon Tobin, Vello Virkhaus, and V Squared Labs in collaboration with Leviathan. ISAM Live is described as ‘a collaborative feat between the minds of madmen, scientists and visionaries’.

The animation and interactive team for ISAM Live includes directors Vello Virkhaus & Matt Daly. V Squared has an impressive visual experience design CV including 50cent, Korn and Red Hot Chilli Peppers amongst others. Creative Director Alex Lazarus has been on the production crew at Coachella Festival for eleven years, and has worked with Massive Attack, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.

The set has been created by award-winning stage designer Heather Shaw (Vitamotus Design Studio) and is built by Stefano Novelli.

Brazilian-born Amon Tobin signed to the prodigious Ninja Tune in 1996. He has recorded seven critically- acclaimed albums under his own name on Ninja that have helped define the label as a force in musical innovation and diversity. The depth and scope of Amon Tobin’s work have had a far-reaching influence, garnering respect amongst producers and artists both within and outside electronic music and remains among one of the most visionary electronic artists of a generation.

He is supported by Paper Tiger and Raikes Parade who have been personally selected by Tobin for the Manchester show. Paper Tiger are from Leeds and are known for their frenetic blend of lopsided hip-hop, glitched-out space-funk and organic super-bass. Manchester’s Raikes Parade play dusty instrumental hip hop and blissed out electronica dub, they have recently released an EP Blunted in the Bedroom.
