Description
Today, the Festival and DC leadership gathered to announce plans for the Centennial Celebration. Paying tribute to the 100-year anniversary of the gift of trees, an unprecedented spectacular begins March 20, the first day of spring. The City in Bloom unites the region through April 27. Outstanding star talent is part of this year’s Festival. The Opening Ceremony on Sunday, March 25 presented by Daiichi Sankyo and Metlife, includes two of Japan’s most exciting and popular musical artists, MISIA and Hideki Togi. They join Sara Bareilles, who became a household name in the US with her hit “Love Song.” And that’s only the beginning. ABC’s Katie Couric co-hosts the nation’s premier springtime Parade along with special correspondent Alex Trebek. Members of the Taft, Ozaki, and Takamine families join us for the historical milestone, and renowned arts and culture is front and center. The peak bloom prediction of the blossoms is March 24 – 31, but the Festival has 5 weeks of events and programs that will amaze. Make plans to be in Washington, DC for the nation’s greatest springtime celebration!
