Description
Right in the midst of Olympic fortnight, the country’s biggest team of teenagers takes to the stage to celebrate British identity, excellence and youthful vitality. We are delighted to return to Symphony Hall for the final concert in its 21st birthday season. We reunite with our principal conductor Vasily Petrenko, visionary pianist Joanna MacGregor and ondes Martenot player Cynthia Millar for one of the most boundless, exciting orchestral works ever written: Olivier Messiaen’s epic Turangalîla-Symphonie. The concert also features a brand new work written for us by the sensational young composer Nico Muhly called Gait which contains an individual part for almost every single member of the orchestra.
The concert also promises to be a fantastic homecoming for 16-year-old Roberto Ruisi, one of the youngest ever leaders of the NYO, who comes from Birmingham.
