Dark Horses play exclusive Malta show

Dark Horses are coming to Malta to play an exclusive show in Malta as part of Kinemastik's Short Film Festival... on 28th July 2012.

Supporting bands are Capitol K and Dolls for Idols.

Bridge next to the venue opens at 20:00h.

One thing we know is that it begins with the source... LISA ELLE the exterminating angel, the Swedish sonic siren...How many sailors will deliriously drown mistaking her voice for safe harbour?

On her nocturnal dérive’s along the shores of Seagull City, SHE finds such like; FIVE drowned LEATHER boys, shivering under the pier. Nourishing them with spells and drones and words and melody’s, she names them DARK HORSES.

Next thing we know DARK HORSES are snowed up in Chicago’s KeyClub studio’s sharing beds with THE KILLS. In the control room at SLY STONE’s mixing desk proffer’s the mighty Richard FEARLESS (Death In Vegas / Black Acid), recording their debut long player, in the vocal booth KASABIAN’s Tom Meighan adds vocals.

The few who’ve heard this record ‘hate BLUES’ (working title) have said:

Little did KASABIAN’s Serge Pizzorno KNOW that when he pressed PLAY on his Cape Town tour bus cd player to first listen to DARK HORSES that before the song was over he would be surrounded by two armed response team’s, pushing revolver’s in his face demanding him to stop this ‘disturbing and unholy clamour’...

Next thing we know DARK HORSES are opening for KASABIAN on their current United Kingdom tour, including shows at Brixton’s Academy and Wembley arena.

DARK HORSES believe that the lighting is within you, let it travel up your spine.

CAPITOL K

Based in London, born In Malta, raised in Brunei (S.E Asia). Kristian Craig Robinson multi-instrumentalist and electronic wizard, known by his pseudonym Capitol K, has enjoyed a remarkable musical career spanning over 13 years in which his sound has metamorphosed from sample chopping, vocal driven electronica to Latin American rhythmically charged Cumbia. first releasing two groundbreaking albums, “Sounds Of The Empire” (Planet Mu 1999) and “Island Row” (XL 2000). His experiments with Lo-fi Guitar Noise, found sound, melodies and falsetto vocals lead to to the pioneering what the critics later called "Folktronica".

In recent years he's toured the world playing synths for Archie Bronson Outfit (Domino); & with Brazilian Tropicalist Cibelle (Crammed Discs), established Studio Plateaux, a boutique studio from which he's produced sessions for acts such as Tune Yards, Atlas Sound, Vivian Girls, Serafina & Ariel Pink among others & set up his own label Faith & Industry, notably releasing Patrick Wolf's debut album.

On return from time spent in South America Capitol K has been excited by new Cumbia Sonidera movements coming in particular from Argentina and Mexico.
K’s new album 'Andean Dub' inspired by this infectious rhythm, weaves in the hypnotic melodies of Cumbia with warm pads and oscillating synths acid and psychadelia.

Dolls For Idols

Dolls For Idols are an Electronic band based in Malta. The band consists of Clint Spiteri
(Programming, Guitar and vocals), Erick Saliba (Bass) and Aaron Sammut (Drums).
Flaunting an intrinsic electronic vein underpinning indie and pop sensibilities, Dolls for Idols’s music has
embraced a stronger element of synthesised sounds inspired by the 80s synthpop sensation
and the 90s rave generation, all served up with an attitude that is very much rooted in the here and now.
