Dreams of Neon Feat. Star You Star Me

We're back with more Finlando pressure at Dreams of Neon in June, with none less than the man they like to call the Swiss Army knife of Finnish electronica, a.k.a. the immensely prolific and talented Mesak; this time in his floaty cosmic disco guise Star You Star Me. One for the deep disco heads.

As usual, residents Naks and European Man will provide the required party pyrotechnics to take you through til the early morn.

Mesak started his career in electronic music in the mid 90s, his electro duo Mr Velcro Fastener being the first project to garner international attention with a regular flow of releases and gigs. The band remixed and worked with artists such as Aux 88, Hardfloor, Marco Carola among others. Recording solo as Mesak, numerous releases on legendary labels like Klakson (NL) and Rikos (FIN) followed throughout the early 2000s. In 2001, Mesak teamed up with Jani Lehto to work on the more disco-flavoured project Star You Star Me together with a range of guest singers, Erlend Øye being one of them. Later on, the musical experiments of Mesak turned distinctly in the direction of skweee and mutant analogue electronics. When not producing music or touring he's running the label Harmönia together with Randy Barracuda from the band Imatran Voima.

At Dreams of Neon, Mesak will be appearing as STAR YOU STAR ME, delivering an exclusive live set of exquisitely produced deep disco workouts. Star You Star Me has been drawing comparisons to artists like Metro Area, Daniel Wang, Todd Terje, Tensnake and John Talabot so if that's your cup of tea, be sure not to miss this gig!

With deep roots in the Finnish underground, resident Naks has been involved in everything from making 8-bit hardcore and wonked-out techno to running electro labels, from organising parties to DJing in moldy basements and glamorous discoteques. Over the years, he has built up an enviable collection of the very finest italo, electro and synth records from which he teases out flawlessly mixed sets of pure dancefloor joy.

Robot grooves, outer space disko and miserablist machine melodramas. European Man has been delighting the London and Berlin underground with a cosmic blend of electronic emotion and jacking machine funk for light years. Drawing on anything from italo disco to classic house to abstract electronics to Detroit techno to minimal wave, his sets are a blissful marriage of groove and melody, dripping with arpeggiated emotion.
