THURSDAY JUNE 12TH / 9P-3A / 21+

Symbiosis invites you to join us for a full moon night of exceptional entertainment at 1015 Folsom. This multi-room event will be something different to the usual club night in the city as we intend to showcase the best of what our community has to offer and put the Symbiosis touch on 1015.

This will be an evening filled with amazing music, other-wordly performance, outstanding deco, organic treats, and an excellent art auction and raffle (of which the proceeds are going to some amazing family in need). We promise to create an amazing space with a great vibe so we can gather the tribe once more before we all head off on our summer adventures.

We hope you can join us!

Art auction and Raffle, with art from Alex Grey, Shrine On, Tribethirteen Artcollective & more.

RANDOM RAB

Emerging from his own distinct corner of the West Coast electronic music scene, Random Rab offers a powerful and unique contribution to sonic exploration. Often referred to as “The Master of Emotion” his music is patently beautiful and melodic. With diverse influences ranging from trip-hop, classical and Arabic to bass driven compositions, his songs are considered anthemic and timeless. As a multi-instrumentalist and singer, his tracks are organic, uplifting and stand on their own as a distinct genre. Listeners of all types of music can find something they can relate to in this sound. He has toured extensively across North America, including tours with Bassnectar, Shpongle, Beats Antique and headlined several festivals across the country.

There is no doubt that Rab understands a multitude of musical styles. He has been the front man of a heavy metal band, toured as a classical trumpet player, played bass in a country music band, was a scratch DJ for a jazz fusion project, was the singer for a rock band in Mexico and has collaborated with countless musicians of all styles. From acoustic performances in the Himalayas to rocking packed clubs in New York, Random Rab has found a way to connect with people of all kinds.

With a dedicated fanbase born from the San Francisco underground, Random Rab has become a Burning Man legend known for his sunrise sets that have now become one of his most sought after performances. His current popularity can often be traced to his breakout album, The Elucidation of Sorrow.. This album firmly established him as a recognizable force in the electronic music scene. His 4th album aRose, catapulted him into the state of momentum that is now taking hold internationally. His latest studio effort, Visurreal debuted in the iTunes Top 10 Electronic Charts as well as in the CMJ RPM Top 5 with several #1′s on radio stations across the country.

Sometimes performing solo and at other times featuring collaborative musicians, the live experience is focused on a high quality translation of sound that is simultaneously sexy and psychedelic.

J.PHLIP

J Phlip (pronounced J Flip) known to some as Jessica Phillipe discovered house music in her hometown of Champaign, Illinois, just 2 hours south of Chicago. Sometime around her 19th birthday she got her first DJ rig – two belt drive turntables and a mixer lacking EQ knobs for $100 bucks! From then on, her poor roomates were forced to listen to a constant dance party in-between her Systems Engineering studies. There aren’t a lot of 4.0 braniac engineering majors who decide to become DJs instead of cashing in on their degrees but Jessica truly loves the music and has dedicated her life to it.

Her proximity to Chicago’s famous house scene tremendously affected her sound, but the distance afforded her the freedom to incorporate a variety of other influences into her repertoire. Her sets posses a fun, “lets-not-forget-this-is-dance-music,” feeling and simultaneously keep you guessing about what might come next. Her collection spans house, tech house, deep house, techno, booty bass and pretty much anything that make you shake your ass.

She’s currently a well known DJ/Producer in San Francisco. Her skills on the decks and in the studio have secured her highly desirable spot as an official member of the dirtybird crew. She has a residency at San Francisco’s infamous Endup nightclub, which is notorious for its non-stop, never-ending parties.

Jessica continues to have new productions coming out on dirtybird where she has signed on as an exclusive original artist. Add to that, remixes on Scion Audio/Visual, Justin Long’s Dotbleep Records, and brand new Denver-based label Full Flavor, and original tunes on Alland Byallo’s Nightlight Music & the east coast imprint, Airdrop. She is currently Claude VonStroke’s favorite support DJ and has already played at amazing high profile gigs like Fabric, Space Ibiza & Back to Basics. She was also chosen for URB Magazine’s Next 100 of 2009 and is looking forward to Berlin, where she will be moving in the spring of 2010. Look out for her this spring in Europe – she WILL be making asses shake on the dancefloor and she’s just as excited about it as the day she got her belt drives!

“It is not that often that i get to hear someone play who i think is amazing. It is even more rare for me to hear a person that understands what the real “dirtybird” sound is all about. Jessica (J Phlip) is one of those rare gifted DJs who I love to listen to. I can fully attest to her skills on the decks as I have travelled on tour with her from the UK to Spain to Germany and beyond. I promise she can hold her own with anyone I have ever heard play on any stage. If you are thinking about booking someone fresh from dirtybird I really think this is the DJ who can deliver the goods as they were meant to be delivered. Straight from San Francisco with dirty basslines, bootylicious funk, and cute as hell – J. Phlip is the total package. She is moving to Europe for the summer, so this is a chance to hear someone really cool from the original San Francisco dirtybird crew who doesn’t sound like everyone else.”
– Claude VonStroke

PERFECT STRANGER

From the mid 90's Yuli Fershtat aka Perfect Stranger has been committed to his love for Trance, which is as dance as music gets. But a generic label would not do justice to the depth of his heartfelt music, which transposes feelings from across the wide range of human emotions. In his creation, you'll find tracks inspired by the bliss of sunbeams, by an ironic but yet candid take on the simple pleasures of life, or by the darker side of the self.

His demanding standards regarding what our man qualifies as the "art" of sound, have led him to appropriate today’s trend, undoubtedly Techno, which he also DJ’s with a rare understanding and acute intelligence. This so called “new hybrid sound" of his, that incorporates Progressive Trance, embedded in the dirty Techno-ish grooves and breakdowns...
