Description

Ayreon's The Human Equation has been adapted for the stage. Three shows only!

The Human Equation was composed by multi-instrumentalist Arjen Anthony Lucassen who released several rock operas with his Ayreon project starting in 1995. The Human Equation double album was released as the sixth Ayreon CD in 2004 reaching the top of the charts world-wide. The music is very diverse with rock, metal, psychedelic, folk and symphonic influences in styles that honor Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and Pink Floyd, among others.

The story: After a car-crash, a man has slipped into a coma from which the doctors seem unable to wake him. At the hospital, his wife and his best friend remain at his side, worried that they might be responsible for what happened. The man, unaware of his medical condition, discovers a strange realm inside his head where his emotions (Pride, Agony, Love, Passion, Rage, Fear and Reason) have come to life to confront him with his choices. It soon becomes clear that some of them don’t want him to wake up ever again. Will he fight to get his life back, or give in to his physical pain and mental anguish, and die?

Please note: Arjen Anthony Lucassen himself won't be performing during the show. He supports, endorses and advises the project.

Cast features vocalists from the international prog-, rock- en metal scene: James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Devon Graves (Psychotic Waltz), Jermain van der Bogt (The Voice of Holland), Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion), Magnus Ekwall, Heather Findlay, Irene Jansen, Michael Mills (Toehider) and others, plus a live band lead by Joost van den Broek with Ed Warby (drums), Johan van Stratum (bass), Maaike Peterse (Cello), Jeroen Goossens (woodwinds), Ben Mathot (violin), Marcel Coenen (guitar), Freek Gielen (guitar), Erik van Ittersum (synths/keyboard), Ruben Wijga (synths/keyboard). Special Guests: the Epic Rock Choir.
