Description

Soundcrash are excited to present the return of Grasscut, who launch their new album ‘Everyone Was A Bird’ at London’s Electrowerkz on 8th June 2015 alongside a special live show. With critical acclaim from the likes of the Sunday Times, Uncut, Time Out, Q and many more with previous works – we can’t wait to hear what the Brighton based duo have in store for us again.

Grasscut are composer/producer Andrew Phillips and musician/writer Marcus O’Dair. Phillips writes and produces all Grasscut music; he also sings and plays various instruments including guitar and keyboards. O’Dair manages the act and contributes keyboards and double bass.

Phillips, who writes and produces all Grasscut music, is also known for his soundtrack work across various channels including ITV1, Channel 4 and BBC 2 to name a few, while O’Dair is also a writer and broadcaster: his 2014 biography of Robert Wyatt was a Radio 4 book of the week and a book of the year for various publications including The Guardian, Independent, The Times and more.

Having released their two previous albums with Ninja Tune, Grasscut begin their next venture with the new single Curlews/September Night’s Sky, from the band’s forthcoming third album, released April 2015 on Lo Recordings.

Grasscut’s music has always been deeply rooted in a sense of place, and the album will feature liner notes from the renowned landscape writer Robert Macfarlane. Scored by fragmented keyboards, guitars and sweeping strings it brings to mind the sense of both majesty and fragility that a starry night can inspire.
