Description
Helping to celebrate the Clonakilty International Guitar
Festival’s sixth birthday this year from the 16th to the 19th of September is another Warehouse
full of musicians and bands from all over the world.
Musician, singer, writer, poet, visual artist, No Wave
pioneer and Experimental guitar god Lee
Ranaldo from Sonic Youth will stroll into Clon for a show and a workshop/masterclass!
We’ll raise a glass of pink champagne to toast the 100
year anniversary of the great Django Reinhardt, followed by the swinging sounds
of one of the worlds finest Django inspired bands all the way from Canada, Van Django.
ELECTRIC
EEL SHOCK are a Japanese powerhouse trio that shred, scream,
strip & SHOCK, who, when they’re not melting heads with their Sabbath meets
Beatles rock, like to go fishing!
Steve
Cooney one of the finest imports to Irish Music returns to
speak on his original take on Traditional guitar accompaniment,
Kentucky born Mark
Fosson once on the
roster of John Fahey’s legendary ‘Takoma records’ jumps a greyhound to this
year’s festival with the dust of Americana artists like Ramblin' Jack Elliott,
Joe Ely, John Prine, and Guy Clark falling from his boots and guitar.
The
Ambiance Affair are a two piece monster of a band, layering
looped guitars, keys and vocals on driving rhythms and percussive beats.
…..and following on from last year’s near success, John Spillane will once again lead an
attempt to break the world record for the largest ensemble guitar
performance….we really want to bring this record home to Ireland and to do
it…..THE GUITARFEST NEEDS YOU!
