Description

‘The Dead C are lifers’ – Pitchfork

‘The Dead C might just be the best rock act currently active’ – The Quietus

Exploding through Australia’s rock ‘n’ roll underground with revered Sydney duo Circle Pit and the raw punk breakthrough of Royal Headache, rogue enthusiasts of DIY garage-rock-electronic-other music R.I.P Society hit their 5th birthday with a label-celebrating revue featuring favourites from our wider nation – Kiwi noise-rock gods and rare performers The Dead C in their only Australian appearance in four years (Ba Da Bing! / Siltbreeze / Flying Nun), the Sub Pop-endorsed ‘80s post-punk legends feedtime, Sydney’s own Bed Wettin’ Bad Boys, Melbourne garage-pop perfectionists Woollen Kits, The Native Cats (Hobart), Brisbane’s Cured Pink (featuring members of Per Purpose, Sky Needle), the Perth-via-San Fran Rat Columns (combining the prolific frontrunners of Lace Curtain, Total Control and Eddy Current Suppression Ring), and more special guests in a one-off invasion of the Vivid LIVE Studio.

‘The sound of feedtime was like nothing else in Australia’ – Sub Pop

‘It’s tempting to claim that feedtime presaged or even helped create grunge’ – 8/10 Pitchfork

Led by the insatiable Nic Warnock holding fort at Newtown’s long-running bastion for independent music – Repressed Records – R.I.P’s elemental force has seen the label win the public-voted ‘Best Independent Record Label’ award from Mess & Noise (2011), whilst Royal Headache’s self-titled debut took out ‘Best Independent Album’ at the 2012 Independent Music Awards. Playing an influential hand in bringing the Australian underground to the international stage, the label will now make its biggest statement yet in a furious display of indie-rock’s liberating power, exclusive to Vivid LIVE.
