▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

■ ASUNA (jp)
Asuna is a young artist who is originally from Kanazawa city in the Hokuriku region in Japan. Since his debut in 2002 he produces some of the most beautiful, emotive drone music / electronica. In his performances he makes use of an almost infinite number of various keyboards (mostly Casio), electronics, old organs, as well as sound toys for children. His music blends influences from lo-fi pop, freak folk, noise, punk, minimal, and Tokyo's improvisation scene. On his recent European tours he has performed with a 100 different keyboards, creating microtonal drones of its own kind.

■ SWEAT TONGUE (nl)
Outrageous "Poop Rock" three-piece that recently have expanded to a four-piece. Gijs Deddens (also in Hun Bed) joined the group on second guitar. Sweat Tongue succesfully famously blurs the lines between performance art, no wave, and free improv. Their craving for the 'purest debris' and a the ultimate 'abrupt perversion' emerges through razorsharp guitars, cavewoman drums, junkyard noises and intense vocals.

■ ELKO B. (be)
Elko Blijweert has been active in the Belgian music scene for about fifteen years, yet curiously released his debut solo album only just recently through the up-and-coming Ekster label from Antwerp. On this album, entitled "I Bambini Di Basilisco", Elko's idiosyncratic guitar playing and his concise compositions were intended as a soundtrack for contemporary dance theatre and children's puppet theatre, but can stand perfectly on its own. Except for the heavily guitar-driven western pastiche "Cochon Torrero", there's an emphasis on synthesizer sounds similar to John Carpenter's, as well as cheerful melodies.

■ AVClub (Victor Timofeev & Alexander Iezzi)
Both Victor Timofeev and Alexander Iezzi are currently enrolled in the Fine Art Master's program at Piet Zwart Institute, but also have a history of making and releasing music. At Gardena, the pair will perform a half improvised set using drum machines, synthesizers, and vocals.

■ ALEXANDRE BELLENGER (fr)
Alexandre Bellenger is a prolific artist based in Paris. He was a inger/guitarist in obscure rock bands before developing an interest in noise and improvisation. Currenty he is mostly active as a radical turntablist and graphic artist. Since 2000 Alexandre played and/or recorded with musicians such as Noël Akchoté, Oliver Augst, Jac Berrocal, Andy Bolus, Rüdiger Carl, Chris Corsano, Erik Minkkinen, Aki Onda, Yoshihide Otomo, Jean-François Pauvros, Arnaud Rivière, Roger Turner, and many others.

■ THE MEDIUM NECKS (jp)
Solo artist The Medium Necks aka Sakiyo Tobita makes calm, folky guitar and vocal ditties with little means; modest but effective. Parallel to music production, she makes tailor-made, conceptual clothing. Asuna released Medium Necks material on his ao to ao label.

■ THE BATTERIES (be)
A post- Verboden Boys spin-off by two women who reinterpret the notorious Antwerp fluxus tradition with battered drums, fairylike singing and things. Melancholic garden-variety lo-fi electronica.

■ DJ SOFA (de/be)
Acclaimed Brussels-based DJ who has been digging deep into eclectic and exceptional music for the past 20 years. This rare-record-detective will suprise even the most curious ears with his idiosyncratic mixes. He scans the outer limits without being fixated on genre or a specific musical era. SoFa has been working on reissues with renowned labels such as Finders Keepers and Sub Rosa.

■ SIMON WHETHAM (uk)
Simon Whetham works with sound recordings as raw materials for his compositions and performances. These are often environmental sounds he has captured employing a variety of methods and techniques, in order to reveal discreet or obscured sonic phenomena. In a performance or installation, the space and the objects within become instruments to be played.
