Aurora Infernalis head organizer on his festival:
"The main reason for Aurora Infernalis to start was the fact that the quality in Black Metal, which was already on a decline back in the mid 90's kept on declining up until now. Instead of looking at a sideline, I wanted to do something about it myself. I started Aurora Infernalis to focus on bands who have something extra, especially when it comes to atmosphere, for me that's the keyword in Black Metal. Aurora Infernalis should be a platform for bands who deserve to be in the spotlight. The bands featured are more then just your average Black Metal crap 90% of the so called "scene" is filled with... The ultimate goal is to help the bands who deserve it to reach the highlight and stand out so much like the bands who really mattered in the past like Abigor, Arckanum, Burzum, older Satyricon, older Covenant, older Emperor and Troll for instance.. total atmosphere, in my opinion. Bands like Paysage d' Hiver, Darkspace, Lunar Aurora, the Ruins of Beverast, Graupel, Nocternity are the new highlights of this era, I think. I try to support the bands I like as well by offering them a chance to do a live performance, most of the time this platform will be club Willemeen located in my hometown Arnhem, the Netherlands."
