Árstíðir's second album Svefns og vöku skil explores the boundary between sleep and waking, containing twelve songs written over a period of two years. During this time the sound of Árstíðir matured from its original neo-folk roots, featuring broad, lush string arrangements and revealing a more experimental side of the band. Svefns og vöku skil was recorded in Studio Hljóðriti in June and July 2011, and was produced by the visionary Ólafur Arnalds and mastered in Berlin by Nils Frahm.
