Elena Voynarovskaya is a Ukrainian singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist born in 1970 in Mykolaiv, Ukraine. She is best known as one of the two lead vocalists and songwriters of the acclaimed art pop band Flëur from Odesa, which she co-founded in 2000. With Flëur, Voynarovskaya released critically acclaimed albums fusing elements of dream pop, chamber pop, and ethereal wave. Since the band's breakup in 2017, she has focused on her solo career, releasing solo albums showcasing her ethereal vocals and introspective lyrics. Voynarovskaya's music is deeply personal, often exploring themes of love, loss, and the passage of time through her poetic songwriting and delicate melodies.
Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Voynarovskaya has taken a strong stance against the war, refusing to perform in Russia in support of her homeland. She continues to tour internationally and build an audience for her unique brand of melancholic and atmospheric indie pop when safe to do so. Her music and anti-war position have made her an important cultural voice for Ukraine.
