マツタケワークス (Matsutake Works) was formed in 2014 by エイジ (Eiji) and タッケン (Takken), both previously in
秘密結社コドモＡ (Himitsu Kessha Codomo A), キボウ屋本舗 (Kibouya Honpo) and サンドイッチで１２０分？ (Sandoicchi de 120 pun?). Eventually, ミズグチトモヒロ (Mizuguchi Tomohiro), also from キボウ屋本舗 (Kibouya Honpo), joined the band on drums. At this point the band mainly performed music from the various bands エイジ (Eiji) had been active in throughout the years, including マカロニ (Macaroni), 秘密結社コドモＡ (Himitsu Kessha Codomo A) and サンドイッチで１２０分？ (Sandoicchi de 120 pun?).
In 2017 タッケン (Takken) left the band, and they almost immediately recruited すずきひろかず (Suzuki Hirokazu), ex. AIREAL, BeaU, 日々全てを飲み込むフカモカ, サウイフモノ and イリタニナツキ (Iritani Natsuki), ex. 桃尻東京テレビジョン+on guitar, koji×koji on bass and (sometimes) はんなまちゃん (Hanna Machan) on synthesizer.
For about a year they wrote new music, which エイジ (Eiji) occasionally performed live during his solo performances as ＤＥＮＴＡＫＵ, while the band kept playing mostly old songs during live performances.
On November 3, 2018 they finally announced their first official release 弱い人たち (Yowai hitotachi), a mini-album containing a mix of remade old songs and new songs. It was released at a special live event on December 16, and later in stores on december 26.
