Iwata Karen (岩田華怜), nickname "Karen" (カレン), born May 13, 1998 in Miyagi, Japan is a Japanese idol singer, model, and seiyū, as well as a member of AKB48's Team A. She was also a member of the sub-unit, NO NAME.

After auditioning for AKB48, Iwata was selected to join as a trainee in April 2011. In December 2011, she auditioned for a role in the TV animated series AKB0048 and was selected to play the main character, Nagisa Motomiya. As part of the anime project, she got to sing with eight other AKB48 members in the sub-unit, "NO NAME" on the show's theme songs.

In March 2012, during the Saitama Super Arena concert, Iwata was one of the kenkyuusei members who were promoted to full AKB48 members in the new Team 4. She also got her first A-side participation on AKB48's single Manatsu no Sounds Good! (真夏のSounds Good!). In July, Iwata was selected to host a TV program on NHK as part of a series to support the areas affected by the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami, which included Sendai. She mentioned that she lived in a shelter for a while before auditioning for AKB48. On August 24, AKB48 had a major restructuring where Team 4 was dissolved, and she was moved to Team A.

On February 24, 2014 at the AKB48 Group Daisokaku Matsuri, Iwata was transferred to SKE48 to become a permanent member, which she quickly rejected and was then put back into AKB48's Team A.
