And with reference to Danny Thomas in the 'Nightmare Trip of the 13th Floor Elevators' blogspot (check it out), his comment about how music scenes were so regional in the 60s, I think the 13ths underwrote in terms of inspiration a whole hell of a lot more of the psychedelic canon than they're given credit for. You'll frequently find their moves bubble up in other contemporaneous psych bands' reportoires. People said they were minor league, people are liars.

захватывающая штука. лично слушаю их 2-3 раза и кладу в долгий ящик, иначе любовь к ним очень быстро перерастает в ненависть.

Their Bob Dylan cover of "It's all over now, baby blue" it's the best that someone ever did.

What a voice Roky Erickson had! His register is practically endless and often with that awesome twangy sound that would come to dominate hard rock and metal.

it's actually their labels fault for putting those awful tags when uploading their music to streaming platforms

Psychedelic sounds is an intimidatingly great album, but I do not understand why most fans of the band like it more than Easter Everywhere. The production on the latter is way less tinny and the tracks are just as good, but more stretched out groove oriented.. Er, come to Brasil!? :D

Yep, I get it. I own both records and they'd both be in my top 20 favourite albums. They're one of my favourite bands bar none. Their first album beat the Velvet Underground & Nico to the punch regarding new textures in sound. I respect it for that reason and many others, but what I'm saying is it is not the album I'd choose given the choice to spin Easter Everywhere instead. I totally empathize that music is all subjective, but I think a lot of people don't even listen to Easter Everywhere because they're told Psychedelic Sounds is the only great statement the band ever made.

I guess I am in the minority who prefers the first one. I guess I just prefer the grittier feel of the first to Easter Everywhere (which is still an excellent album)
