1. London-based DJ and record producer 1991 (Frederick Webb) has emerged as one of the most exciting artists in Dance music. A journey which began in 2016 when he was handpicked by Chase & Status to join MTA Records; 1991 made an immediate impact with his early releases that the following year he was earmarked as a "#NewName" by Danny Howard on BBC Radio 1 and voted best newcomer at the Drum & Bass Awards. Since then he has gone on to forge a path for himself as one of the most exciting acts in dance music, defined by his ability to effortlessly blend genres in his production.

Musically, 1991 is in the most prolific run of his young career. Full Send, his contribution to UKF10 has garnered over 20 million online streams to date, with his six self-released singles over the last two years adding another additional 20 million. His list of accomplishments includes collaborations with Sub Focus & Netsky, official remixes for Axwell, Basement Jaxx, Chase & Status, Mylo vs Claptone, Chris Lake & My Nu Leng; and being the first UK artist to be featured on RL Grime’s imprint Sable Valley.

With sold out tours across Europe, North America and Australia & New Zealand, plus performances at festivals including Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, EXIT, Let It Roll and Nass in the same time frame, and recent launch of his own imprint; 1991 looks to take the next step to drum & bass stardom.

2. 1991 is the alias of Axel Backman, an enigmatic producer based in Gothenburg, Sweden. With output on Opal Tapes and Astro:Dynamics, Backman (who also operates as MCMXCI) often straddles the threshold between ambient haze and minimalist house/techno, his music buried within thick layers of warped low-fidelity electronics. In addition to 2012's trio of formal releases (Skogen Flickan Och Flaskan, High-Tech High-Life, and the self-titled 1991), he also sporadically shares music on his YouTube, Soundcloud and Tumblr pages, albeit in a manner shrouded in secrecy and ambiguity. Backman returned to the project in 2016 with the self-released No More Dreams LP, comprised of material that, at various points over the years, been made fleetingly available on social media.

1991 is also the name of various rock-based groups including:

4. an alternative rock band from Detroit, Michigan, whose music can be found through their Facebook page; and a
