In “redrum,” 21 Savage returns to the England with a new demeanor, marked by his street credibility. The instrumental combined with Savage’s lyricism establish a menacing mood, breaking in his third studio album, american dream.
The title is is a nod to the word “murder” spelled backward, simultaneously paying homage to the 1980 horror classic, The Shining, which initially coined the term. On top of this, the outro samples an infamous scene from the movie, further conveying the murderous theme.
