2Pac sets the tone of the song by allowing his listeners to eavesdrop on an adult sounding conversation between himself and a child that has obviously been exposed to the Thug Life for quite some time. It suggests that the outlaw lifestyle is not one that will go away anytime soon. Given the fondness in Pac’s voice, it can also be gleaned that the child reminds Pac of himself when he was a youngster and that the cycle is a vicious, continuous one.
2Pac is speaking on the insanity that followed him throughout his life and career, as well as the troubles of living in the hood surrounded by death, corruption and poverty.
All 2Pac sees around him is violent crime and this influences his mind state.
