4-WORD is a self-contained gospel/jazz band that combines funky, rhythmic grooves with passion filled harmonies their music is inspirational, uplifting and reminiscent of the nostalgic sounds of the 70s and 80s.

This three piece band marvelously sounds like a nine piece ensemble.

about THE MEMBERS:

Harold “Pete” Peters

Harold “Pete” Peters affectionately known as Pete began his quest in music at the age of ten. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, “Pete” was surrounded by various styles of music; Pop, Rock, Rhythm & Blues. From high school to adulthood, Pete performed in several bands as a keyboardist.

Pete was fortunate to travel abroad with the Unity One Band, an R&B band that had the opportunity to perform to enormous crowd all over the world. Pete relocated to the West Coast and continued to perform with the Unity One Band in Las Vegas, Nevada, Los Angeles, California and other areas of Southern California. Pete also discovered that he had a gift to sing. Pete has enjoyed singing and playing to many wide range of people; both here in the States and in the continents of Asia & Europe.

After the dismantling of the Unity One Band, Pete moved on and became a vital part of The J-Love Band, as a vocalist and keyboardist. The J-Love Band has opened up for: GQ, The Brothers’ Johnson, The Legendary Vibrations and a host of others. Pete sensed the need for change, which would bring his musical abilities to a higher level. In the summer of 2007, Pete received the Lord Jesus Christ. Pete believes that the Lord has lead him help form the “4 Word” band. Within “4 Word”, he is a writer, co-producer, lead & background vocalist and plays various keyboards. He believes that the Lord has a bright future for “4 Word”.

Musical influences are: Lionel Richie, Phil Collins, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Joe Sample, Stevie Winwood, The Ohio Players, Earth Wind & Fire, Parliament and the
Average White Band, just to name a few.

Jeffrey “J-Dub” Watson

Jeffrey “J-Dub” Watson, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, began his musical interest in elementary school where he began to study and play trumpet and violin. J-Dub passionately continued to study music and added to his arsenal, bass guitar.

When J-Dub relocated to Los Angeles, California, in 1976, he became intrigued with the technical aspects of music, where he honed his skills in drum programming, recording and engineering. J-Dub’s curiosity in music would not allow him to stand still, so he began spinning the “wheels of steel” for 12 years as a disc jockey known as “DJ J-Dub” of the M&J Show. This allowed him the opportunity to initiate his own business as an event promoter from 1983 – 1987.

J-Dub, never satisfied with just being a musician, began his own independent record label, called, P.T.G records, Proclaim The Gospel in 1991 where he signed the gospel rap group, “Everlasting Joy”. In “Everlasting Joy”, he produced the music, wrote the music and performed with the group as well. “Everlasting Joy” travelled throughout Southern California spreading the “Good News” in concerts in the park and also corporate & private events. In 1994 J-Dub began performing as solo artist in 1994.

J-Dub has also assisted the “J-Love Band” with background vocals in opening up for “GQ”. J-Dub helped create the “4 Word” band, where his previous experiences are greatly used here. J-Dub is the lead producer and engineer of the group. He is also the bassist, drum programmer and one of the lead vocalists. He firmly believes that the vision of “4 Word” will reach the masses of people with a message of inspiration & positivity.

J-Dub is the President and CEO of Proclaim The Gospel Records. “4 Word” is signed under this label.

Albright, The Ohio Players, New Birth and the list goes on!

John “J-Love” Lewis

J-Love, also known as John Lewis was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He began his musical development at the age of ten. He was intensely interested in the bass guitar. Bass icon, Louis Johnson heavily influenced him. Little did “J-Love” know that by relocating to Los Angeles, California in 1980, his dream would fully manifest.

As destiny would have it Louis Johnson of the Brothers Johnson took J-Love under his wings and from this relationship, J-Love’s music career would catapult! Louis featured J-Love on the Starlicks Video Vol. II, in which Louis & J-Love are playing a bass duo. Quincy Jones, George Duke & Al Hendrix, the father of the late Jimi Hendrix were also on the video. J-Love began touring with the Brothers Johnson at the House of Blues and the Whiskey A Go Go as a bassist, lead and background vocalist.

J-Love’s undeniable talent could not be ignored by Louis, therefore Mr. Johnson asked J-Love to co-write two songs with him. These songs are featured on the, “Caught in the Low Beam” CD, which was released in Japan. J-Love is also feature rapping and singing on these tracks as well. J-Love & Louis completed a CD entitled, “The New Brothers”. .

J-Love has worked beside the incomparable Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire as a bass historian on Verdine White’s second bass book. This book was submitted to Simon & Schuster. J-Love has performed as a bassist at some of the most high profile venues in Los Angeles with such artists as: Arthur Adams-BB King’s The New Brothers-BB King’s J-Love & the All Stars-Celebrity Center/Hollywood, The Tina Turner Revue-Starlight Bowl-Burbank, The Nightfire Jazz Ensemble-Riverside Jazz Festival-who opened up for Stanley Clarke & The Average White Band.

While the late, great Wilson Pickett was performing at the Doheny Blues Festival, in Dana Point, California, he called J-Love on stage to sing a song with him. The Orange County Register commented on J-Love’s “crowd pleasing” performance. J-Love has also opened up for the 70’s R&B group, “Slave” @ BB Kings-Hollywood.

J-Love has also shared the stage with Patrice Rushen & Leon “Ndugu” Chancelor to raise funds for education.

J-Love has been blessed as one of the creators of the “4 Word” band. With “4 Word” his contributions are: electric bass, upright bass, drums, lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars. He also sings lead & background vocals with “4 Word”. He writes & co-produces as well.
