Biography
A BANQUET, the uncompromising trio from Prague managed to fight their way to the very top of the Czech indie scene. They were announced as the Best new band of the year 2010 by IndieMusic.cz and they are said to be one of the most gifted and hardworking young bands in the Czech Repuplic, which has the potential to succeed outside the country. A Banquet mix the 60s and 70s and the alternative movements of the 80s and 90s along with the contemporary indie genres such as electro, nu-rave, shoegaze and many others, under the auspices of their very own style called FUTU-ROLL. Three club tours through the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland including more than 80 concerts during less than a year and a half
November 2010 - Debut EP Kiss the Night! in production of Boris Carloff (Kryštof, Sunshine,…), who chose the band for cooperation; EP was enthusiastically accepted by both – the critics and the fans
Out of six songs contained on the EP, four have managed to get in rotation in the Czech and Slovak radio stations, Expres Radio, Radio_FM, Aligator Radio, ČRo Pardubice, Rebel Brod Radio and others; the summer single (2011) Magic Eyes of May, which among others remained the most played song on the Bandzone.cz server for a few days, has had the biggest radio success so far, and was followed by two previous singles which won the charts
During the Spring of 2011, two videos were done by international production - Freeze to Caress, made by Dutch director Patrick Carelsz, was released on Public TV. It entered the so called Medúza music chart on Czech TV and it also appeared for example on Alternativa TV; Marian Šicko was the director in charge of the video Gold Frames, which entered the music chart on Alternativa TV as well as making an appearance in the Rock&Pop magazine selection
The debut single Dark Streets was released on the prestigious Report magazine SoundCzech compilation (June 2010)
A Banquet attract the attention of the Czech-Slovak Media on a long-term basis. Interviews with the band showed up in Czech Television, Public TV, the Rock&Pop Magazine, Houser Magazine, statewide Bohemia Daily Paper, in the local weekly (Sedmička) and also on servers such as MusicServer.cz, iReport.cz, ABradio.cz, LaCultura.cz, I-Klik.cz, oHudbe.sk, MusicPress.sk and many others
A Banquet was one of the first Czech bands to have played on the world-wide known online Balcony TV, which broadcasts also for example from New York, London, Paris or Toronto
Apart from playing with a few well-known names of the Czech music scene for example Sunshine, Cartonnage, 100°C, Wohnout and more, A Banquet has also played with many foreign bands, for example The Feud (UK), Soviet Soviet (IT), Adolar (DE), The Swan Bride (SK), PARA (SK) or Teskohippies (SK)
The first band in the Czech Republic to play two online streaming gigs from a living room, playing unplugged and chatting with fans via Facebook
The band defines its own music style as FUTU-ROLL (which represents a mix of the 60s and 70s rock and independent movements of the 80s and 90s along with the contemporary indie genres such as electro, nu-rave, shoegaze but its range is not restricted only to these)
