A primarily instrumental post-rock band hailing from the medieval city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands. Their music is the product of curiosity and thus leads to their deliberately explorative sound which always aims to express an idea or evoke a certain feeling.
The foundation of A Fool’s Errand was laid in 2011 after a group of five friends wanted to explore music further mostly through long jam sessions. The line-up changed throughout the years as did the sound of the band, with Willem Schuurmans (guitar) and Alwin van der Ven (bass & trumpet) as the core of the band. Eventually, in 2014, they found a perfect match in Albert Schuurmans (brother of Willem) as a drummer, mostly remaining a trio. With the addition of Fabian Voskuil on guitar in 2017 a group of like-minded musicians found each other that shared a more common ethos towards music. This was the start of the current A Fool’s Errand where instead of ever evolving songs, more songs were set in stone. This led to their first EP ‘Asfaltpuin / Foxboy’ in 2017 and their debut album ‘Gravitas’ in 2019.
