Biography
武川アイ (Ai Takekawa) is a Japanese Singer-songwriter born in September 4th 1988 in Tokyo. She also plays the piano and guitar. She currently attends the Waseda University.
Ai Takekawa’s songs are driven by her emotions in the way a painter may work. She is also known to work with speed and spontaneity. She recorded her first song when she was 16 and has written well over 60 songs. She writes many of her songs for her friends and lovers but at times her songs are born out of thoughtful reflections about herself. At the end of the day, all of her songs are dedicated to “those that one must love”.
With her lyrics that meander along the boundary of womanhood and girlhood and her melodies that accompany stories, the singer creates an all-encompassing and universal landscape.
Ai has grasped the hearts of many women in her generation with her soulful performances in which she exhibits her talents on both the piano and the guitar.
The singer’s voice is at once powerful and smooth, melancholy and optimistic. Her ever-growing talent is asserting her place in music history.
