If you should look for a common denominator in Carl Nordströms music then it's probably the same detailed epithet that's been abscribed to other scandinavian producers like Christian Falk or electronically oriented artists like Röyksopp: an excentric form of beauty.
Since 2001 he has mostly concentrated on producing beats under the name Affictionados.
Modern rhythms that nourishes from the plaited layers of sounds that has led up to the musical history, and where defining genre seldom is relevant. Ambition and the will to experiment, is a more likely way to describe it. The search for new angles of approach is often in a slightly melancholic mood that might just be characteristic for the nordic electronica scene.
The new track "Let Me" begins with a whispered beat that glides into tranquil drums,
a descreet production that lifts the gruff and soulful voice of Torin Williams.
Maybe it's the actual ability to blend musical elements in such a playful way and create interesting dichotomies of moods, that constatly gets Affictionados new listeners.
Never the less, it's characteristic for a musician and producer you should keep your eyes and ears open for.
