I've just spent my afternoon watching Sander's videos reminiscing the albums and songs of After Forever. Those of you who actively follow him probably already know about them, but to everyone else; I highly recommend looking up his FB or IG @sandergommans for the videos he's been posting already for a couple years. Really interesting content and a delightful retrospect. :)

I don't think we will ever see a reunion of this band, but it is nice that Floor sings some of their songs everytime she does something solo.

AF tags kinda messed up now cause in Spotify they put Floor Jansen + After Forever as credited artists...

I think it is rather a problem with Floor not wanting Sander or whoever has the rights to their stuff to release old material. She was really pissed of when they first release some of "The Sessions" without telling her before (I think). Now they put her name aside from the band.

No, it's not Sander: it's Transmission, their former label. They're the ones who kept reissuing the albums with bonus material and what, not without the band's input and, from what I gather, offering them unfavourable monetary agreements. If you pay attention, the self-titled album, which was released under Nuclear Blast, doesn't have the double artist tag. What's happening is Transmission, being greedy assholes, put Floor's name separately to capitalise on the fame she gained as Nightwish's current singer and give the reissues a boost.

I've had the self titled since nearly when it came out and I listened to it once or twice and I never got into this band? What was wrong with me? This is great stuff, I rediscovered it after finding out their first album was tied into Epica.

If you check out "Prison of Desire" they had part of an album concept that Epica continued doing in "The Phantom Agony" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Phantom_Agony

Mark Jansen founded Sahara Dust (which was later renamed into Epica) after being kicked out of After Forever. Back then all parties involved were bitter about it (they've now long since reconciled), so he went on and continued The Embrace That Smothers series with the new band. There's also a live recording of Epica covering Follow In The Cry floating around the internet since the 2000s.

I grew up listening to After Forever and now when I listen to them, I think: omfg Floor is better in After Forever than in Nightwish <3

Сегодня 15 лет шикарному и последнему альбому After Forever - оргия звука поразит вас через пару прослушиваний, и вы будете задаваться вопросом, где это было всю вашу жизнь!

Self titled is really a thing. Note only because Floor's amazing performance, but also great songwriting (with clever orchestral arrangements) and genre variety from progressive to industrial metal. Very entertaining work.

Nossa, lembro quando a banda anunciou o fim e uma comunidade no orkut mudou a descrição para 'De-Energizou', ri mas chorei.

Self titled album still is, in my opinion, the best symphonic metal album ever made. It's funny and sad to acknowledge that the intricate, progressive nature of this album would be much better accepted and understood today. Plus Floor's performance is still unmatched. Masterpiece.

Amazing music! If you want to get an idea of Floor Jansen's (now Nightwish) vocal capabilities, pick any album and give it a listen. "Remagine" is my favorite album, especially the session versions of the songs.

Impressionante como a Floor se encaixa melhor no After Forever. Outro nível. Não curto ela no Nightwish. Ao contrário da maioria, eu acho que ela não tem nada a ver com a proposta da banda e ouvir After Forever confirma isso.

Cara, eu penso a mesma coisa.

their first 2 albums were good enough with detailed confident approach since Mark Janson of epica was part of the band composing. afterwards their albums went chaotic.their last was their best with production.

Well, maybe you are right. I haven't really heard Epica apart from the first album, I just don't really like symphonic metal (apart from early Nightwish). I agree that Tristania went downhill starting with Ashes, but I am not sure it's because of Einar. On the contrary, it seems to me that they degraded because Einar had less contribution (no more symphonic elements, etc). As for Sirenia, his first two albums are almost at the same level as Beyond the Veil. He basically sold out after them, so his new albums suck.

listen to epica latest album it has a lot of cool guitar riffs and choirs. Einar after making Morten leave he become Tristania 's master so he stylized it the way it fitted his vision which was a change after change with barely any constructive attention to the band itself although he had great treasurer like vibek sten he couldn't manage it. As for Sirenia his first 2 albums were both cheaply made with him "Veland" being on top of everything, from mixing to writing to playing he is so full of himself. if u love doom with symphonic themes try Estatic Fear.

Einar haad a great role on World of Glass and I enjoyed this album. He clearly had less contribution than Anders on Ashes and Illuminations. As for Sirenia, I don't agree that their first two albums sound cheap. I really like the riffs and melodies on those albums. I heard about Estatic Fear, will check them out. But they probably aren't as good as Tristania, nothing is.

This is a tough call because, on the one hand, I'd really like to have After Forever back but, on the other, I'd eliminate Nightwish just for the sheer enjoyiment of it without asking for anything in return.

They were my favorite back then and still are. Their songs and Floor were unique. Epica is for obvious reasons the closest band to what After Forever was, and I can't help but imagine their songs with Floor's voice

Hey, you may want to listen to Season of Tears, it's quite similar to Epica and After Forever and I've fallen in love with the album they just released. (I have nothing to do with them, I'm just a fan who thinks they deserve to be more famous :p) You can listen to the full album on bandcamp: https://seasonoftears.bandcamp.com/album/homines-novi

They became one of my favorite bands so fast! I have only listened to them for the last 60days ish, I like all of their albums, some grew on me... Still some songs to grow on. I kinda wish they still played live so I could see them. They are something special for sure! You can't really ask for any better than Floor. ♡ ♥ ♡

I love After Forever's Earlier work but I'm Glad Mark left it otherwise we wouldn't have the most Epic pun intended, band ever within this genre

These folks are still one of my favorite bands even after all of these years. Floor Jansen has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. I really wish that these guys would get back together and continue making great music.
