After reading the Lord of the Rings and Silmarilion in 1998 French artist Engwar set about making acoustic music themed around Tolkien's masterpieces, but it wasn't until the Autumn of 2002 that the idea to adapt 'The Lay of Leithian' into an album was born. After four months recording and a further two months mixing 'The Lay of Leithian' was complete and has since been released twice in demo form (initially in 2003 and again in 2008 with a limited edition re-print) and twice for independant record labels (Cynfeirdd & Trollmusic). Currently Engwar is hard at work with the much anticipated followup.
