Cheesy or not, hokey or not...it still reminds me of being a kid...like a lot of music from the 60's,70's,80's does....ALL kinds, pop, rock, blues, R&B, disco, country, southern fried rock, rockabilly...I miss the days of Classic music. This drivel these days is devoid of soul and substance.

O'Day described this tune as a "Nocturnal Novelette." It was put out without fanfare in February 1977. Four months later, it was the #1 song in the country, and certified gold. http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=3951

I love this song. Have the 45 on my jukebox (which is much better - the website's version sounds different...not much, but different enough).

when it's all said and done, the lyrics of the past are a whole lot "racier" than today's

I wish this could be released by one of todays crooners, but I do love this song, it always makes me smile.

LOL regarding Retro_Saiyan's shout! I would like to hear the original version too! (I know that is a lot to expect on lastfm however.)

Knowing last FM, I wonder if this week they'll stream the original recording, a re-recording, a remix, a splendid live recording, a pathetic live recording, or a Village People song. Almost all involved would prefer the Original Alan O'Day hit but one never knows with this site.
