On the 6th of April, 2023 u/wdcipher on Reddit posted about a dream they had in which the band Alestorm had published a song called "Cock", describing it as having an aggressive, Irish music inspired sound. The band's singer, Christopher Bowes, was tagged in the post. He responded by saying "I can make it happen". Less than 24 hours later a demo of the song was uploaded to YouTube. On the 22nd of March 2024 the song was released properly as part of the EP "Voyage of the Dead Marauder".
