Copenhagen, Capital Region of Denmark, Denmark

From Copenhagen, Denmark, Alice Rose's music and one-woman performances are beautiful and mesmerizing, a stunning vocalist, she is employing a variety of electronic and acoustic instruments in a wide range of musical styles. Using samplers, viola, cello, violin, casio keyboards, harmonicas, toys and beat boxes, she cooks up a delicious musical concoction of electro-folk mixing in generous portions of trip-hop, jazz, electronica, pop and rock.

Alice's musical journey started at an early age with violin and voice. But one day she discovered the 4-track recorder (later to be replaced by hard drives), and from that moment her work has been focused on her own compositions. Shortly after, she made her first home-made album, a collection of four-track songs, released in 1999.

Alice has produced music on her own and with a number of prominent electronic musicians – Gabriel Ananda, Frank Martinik, Numinos, Electro Atomu, jungle band Hypnotix, and Jazz musician and producer Sebastian Gramss. She has toured all over Europe and the US with her one-woman show. She is planning to start her own label, red+white.

Alice also composes scores for films and jingles for TV and radio spots. She has produced and directed several music videos and a short films as well. She currently lives in Cologne, Germany and she also has a US base in San francisco.

About the new album Tales Of Sailing:
Alice Rose wanders around in a fairy-like twilight zone between folk and electronica.. (…) The wonderful ‘Schön ware es’ is as soft as fluff and contains ticking and cracking rhythms over an analogue bass. It is a foretoken for the rest of the album: lo-fi common or garden electronica full of samples, little bells, harmonica, noise and atmospheric strings. It sounds lose, brittle and sometimes almost accidental, but it is far from that. ‘Tales of sailing’ is an album like an intimate secret, but you have to hold your breath while listening to it.
“An album like gold leaf. Portishead in a German way with a Danish tongue.”
