Real asf. I listened to it on an hour of sleep after a big bender and it was a totally uneal experience. Its been my favourite Alice in Chains record ever since.

I'm more partial to the 12 track run from Grind to Over Now (a perfect album to me)

Their peak! So dark and hopeless! Dirt is a VERY close 2nd tho, both among my all time favorite albums, but this is where it's really at!

Can’t be many other albums with a mood as dark as this one. Truly in the shadow of death. Such an interesting album, my favourite of theirs.

Happy 25th birthday to this album... Time to re-listen, and bring it to 7 million scrobbles (now it has 6.9M)

This is their best record. It's dark, heavy, psychedelic, and lyrically and musically insane at points. It's everything you could hope for from a band like AiC, and boy did they deliver. This isn't as immediate as Facelift, Dirt, or Jar of Flies, but it's one that seems to stay fresh no matter how many times I play it. And I feel that's a testament to how sonically diverse it is.

I love this album so much. It's flawed and that's part of why it's perfect. It's the sound of anger, depression, regret and pain. It's the sound of the band in decay. Layne's voice isn't what it was before and the vocal harmonies don't always sound perfect. There's a feeling of tension throughout the whole album that really adds an emotional weight to all of it. This, Dirt and Jar of Flies are about equally important to me. This is the first album I listen to to help myself deal with negative emotions because there are so many of them on display here.

This album's definitely the odd one out in their discography. As a follow-up to Dirt/Jar of Flies it was a tough nut to crack for me, it's so different from their earlier releases. Over time I've come to appreciate it more, particularly the last 2 tracks are incredible, posssibly the gloomiest tracks in their discography. As an album it's still my least favourite.

My favorite of their full lengths. Such a shame addiction robbed us of further music from Layne, because he was really blossoming as a songwriter at this stage. Anyway, "Heaven Beside You," "Frogs," "Over Now," "Sludge Factory," "Grind," "Head Creeps," "Again," "God Am"... this tracklist is fucking killer.
